Renee

Honours biology student Renee studies how plants respond to disease. She also interns with Nature at McMaster, restoring greenspaces like the McMaster Forest.

Daryus

Engineering physics student Daryus was part of the first cohort of The Climate Action Scholars program— focused on the decarbonization of energy systems.

Ahana

A PhD student in Management Science, Ahana researches “Crowdfeeding” to reduce food waste and deliver surplus food to underserved communities.

Elli

Elli is the founding director of Mac WELL— an outdoor teaching lab that monitors the health of the Ancaster Creek, providing students with hands-on research experience. 

“Our lab will be another way for McMaster to help solve major environmental challenges through research, teaching and citizen science.”

Prasha

Prasha participated in DeGroote School of Business’ inaugural GRIT Week, where students explored nuclear science as a viable option to address the urgent need for sustainable energy. 

“GRIT week sparked my curiosity to explore sustainability through innovation— to inspire the next generation of leaders to take action on critical environmental challenges.

Iliya

Iliya, an MD Candidate, is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences’ PEACH initiative—which empowers healthcare leaders to take climate action in their practice.  

“Human health and planetary health are inextricably linked. By contributing to the betterment of the planet, healthcare systems can better meet the needs of their patients. We hope to contribute towards a net-zero healthcare system!”
